Graduation party, juggling, a movie, and introspection

Date published: May 12, 2001

A little get together happened at CSH from 6pm to about 10:30pm for all the people who are graduating. Everyone sat around and reminisced a bit. It was quite fun. Also before that I had to do a little performance showing the things that I've learned in my Juggling class. Like everyone else in the class we still drop the beanbags from time to time, but I think everyone did well and I was quite pleased with my performance. My goal was to start juggling the 3 balls from a 2-ball toss while lying down on my back. Then I would sit up, then stand up, then stand on top of this 2 foot tall hard plastic ball (it's called a walking globe). The whole time I was supposed to be juggling (a 3 ball cascade) but I screwed up a couple times. For the finale, I was to catch one of the balls behind my neck, while still standing on the walking globe. I pulled the finale off perfectly even though I wasn't assuming I would, so I was quite happy.

Then I went to the movies with Kevin to see The Mummy Returns. It wasn't a great movie by any means, but the effects were interesting to see and that's really the only reason we were going.

Anyway, as we returned from the movie, we talked a bit about my upcoming graduation and how things change. One thing that came up was that because I'm graduating, I was thinking people who are leaving for the summer might want to spend more time with me. Maybe that's just egotistical of me to think. I've discovered that sometimes there are people who can be very passive about friendships. Sometimes people like you visiting them, but don't take the time to visit you. Graduation is a time of change, and time will tell what friendships hold up.

So it was an odd day, a fun time earlier and then introspective later on.

I'm told it's only 15 more days until graduation...a very scary thought.
